ABOUT

Ten Point Interpretation is an independent consultancy specialising in offshore geohazard assessments and site surveys.

Established by Kevin Day in 2015 following a career spanning over 30 years in the offshore survey industry, Ten Point Interpretation (TPI) aims to provide consultancy services based on this extensive experience.

Kevin has extensive interpretation experience of all types of 2D and 3D seismic data, sub bottom profiler, sonar and magnetometer data. Projects have covered Western Australia, Malaysia, South China Sea, offshore East and West Africa, Gulf of Mexico, UK and Norwegian Continental Shelf, West of Shetland and North Falkland Basin.

Work scopes covered include multi-disciplinary integration of well, geological and geotechnical data into seismic interpretation projects ranging from exploration and appraisal well hazard assessments to field development foundation studies. Also covered are renewables projects involving the integration of geophysical and geotechnical data into geological ground models.

Recent projects have also included acting as Client Representative on a number of deepwater AUV and pipeline route surveys, 3D seismic based regional geohazard studies and shallow hazard assessments for exploration, appraisal and CO2 sequestration wells.

ABOUT KEVIN

kevin

Kevin is a geohazards and offshore survey specialist with 35 years of experience in the global oil and gas sector. He has also been involved with numerous other offshore survey projects covering harbour, cable route and hydrographic surveys, renewables developments and seabed searches.

Kevin began his career as a Field Geophysicist with Gardline Surveys in the UK, following a short spell as a Well Logger with Core Laboratories. At Gardline, he was involved in many offshore surveys worldwide, covering rig site surveys, pipeline and cable route surveys, hydrographic surveys, and inshore harbour surveys. With increasing experience Kevin undertook a number of projects as Party Chief, in charge of, and responsible for, the field operations. These projects involved a number of mobilisations to chartered vessels of opportunity, often in remote locations.

Kevin’s role at Gardline progressed through Senior Geophysicist and Deputy Chief Geophysicist leading to appointment as Geophysical Manager, where he was responsible for over 15 Field Geophysicists and 5 office based interpretation Geophysicists. During his time at Gardline, Kevin interpreted, QC’d and was responsible for countless top hole studies for exploration and development well drilling. As global exploration moved into deepwater areas, he was also involved in the establishment and practice of utilising re-processed ‘short offset’ 3D seismic data for geohazard and drilling constraints assessments.

Kevin moved to RPS Energy (formerly Hydrosearch) in 2004 as Geohazards Manager. Here he continued to be involved with developing the use of 3D data for geohazard work, particularly the acceptance of such data in connection with the second, and successful, round of drilling in the North Falkland Basin. This period at RPS also saw involvement with Renewables projects and the integration of Geophysical and Geotechnical data for foundation studies. Consultancy work also included Tender and Scope of Work preparation and reviews and acting on client’s behalf overseeing contractors’ acquisition and interpretation work.

In 2008, Kevin returned to Gardline, coupled with a move to Australia, to assume the role of Geohazards Manager for Gardline’s Perth office. This position covered further deepwater geohazards work for new and established clients, together with continuing and developing work with Australian and other Asia-Pacific based projects.

This was followed by a move to Senergy (now part of Lloyds Register) in 2012 as Principal Geohazards Specialist. This period involved a return to consultancy work with South East Asian clients and support of Senergy’s Well Drilling business stream with regional geohazard reviews and well prognoses. Other activities included integrated geological ground modelling projects for windfarm developments and independent reviews of contractors’ site survey data and interpretation, together with placements in Client’s offices working on in-house well planning requirements.

Kevin left LR Senergy in 2015 and has established Ten Point interpretation Pty Ltd to work as an Independent Consultant, where he specialises in geohazard interpretation and all types of offshore survey projects.
